STEP ONE NOTES
1. The church is a spiritual family.
2. God expects me to be a member of a church family.
1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV) I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
3. Unity in a church family guarantees my life will be blessed.
Psalm 133 (NIV) 1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.
1. In essential beliefs, we have unity.
2. In non-essential beliefs, we have liberty.
Romans 14:1 (NIV) Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.
3. In all our beliefs, we show charity.
1 Corinthians 13:2 (NIV) If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
FOUR ESSENTIALS TRUTHS
1. The Bible is the Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2. Jesus is the Son of God.
John 14:6 (NIV) Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
3. You must be born again.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (LB) When anyone becomes a Christian he becomes a new person inside. The old passes away, a new life has begun.
4. Believers can be spirit filled and spirit led.
Acts 1:8 (NIV) “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…”
Luke 11:13 (NIV) If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to you children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
We believe the one way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us. Every believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit by simply asking. We seek to practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right.
Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Our hope for you at Victory Church
1. To discover the amazing potential of my life!
2. To enjoy the process of growth as I take one step at a time in my walk with God.
3. Simply start and trust God’s plan for my life.
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV) 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the
pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be
built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become
mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
